Many of San Francisco’s museums are located in the South of Market district, such as the Museum of Modern Art and the Asian Art Museum. The de Young Museum, located within Golden Gate Park, showcases a diverse collection of fine art as well as significant anthropological and non-European holdings. The Palace of Fine Arts, a monumental structure originally constructed for the 1915 world’s fair, hosts art exhibitions and serves as an iconic symbol of San Francisco.

San Francisco is home to over 4,000 restaurants, from fast casual eateries to Michelin-starred fine dining establishments. The Mission District, a historically Latino neighborhood, is known for its high concentration of taquerías, Mexican restaurants and street food vendors. Seafood restaurants are aplenty in Fisherman’s Wharf, with Dungeness crab and clam chowder being popular menu items. Famous restaurants include the Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar, Greens, Original Joe's, Vesuvio Cafe and the Top of the Mark.

From hiking the Marin Headlands to playing Frisbee in the park, San Franciscans love to get outside. In fact, the city has over 200 parks for the public to enjoy. The largest one, Golden Gate Park, spans ‎1,017 acres — 20% more land mass than New York’s Central Park. Crissy Field, a former airfield turned public recreational area, is a popular spot for flying kites on a windy day. Head to AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, to catch a ball game and eat their famous garlic fries.
