Another famous flagship located in the neighborhood is Macy's Herald Square on 34th Street, containing some 1,250,000 square feet of retail space. Parks and Recreation

One of New York's best public spaces is located in Chelsea: the High Line, a 1-mile (1.6 km) New York City park built on a 1.45-mile (2.33 km) section of an abandoned elevated freight railroad line. The space was redesigned and planted as an aerial greenway in 2006, becoming a sanctuary to New Yorkers and tourists looking for a quiet respite from the hustle and bustle below.

The lovely Hudson River Greenway and Hudson River Park, running along the west side of the neighborhood, are popular spots for a waterfront stroll, jog or bike ride. Hudson River Park boasts a sports field, basketball court, playground and dog run, as well as tennis courts, beach volleyball and a skate park. The adventurous can also try their hand at canoeing, rowing, sailing or kayaking on the river.

Chelsea is also home to the Chelsea Piers Sports & Entertainment Complex, the city's most diverse collection of recreational facilities. Features include a health club, day spa, gymnastics training center, two basketball courts, indoor soccer and lacrosse fields, baseball and softball batting cages, a rock climbing wall, dance studios, AMF Bowling center, golf club with two-story driving range and two ice skatng rinks.
